{"id":70663,"date":"2015-04-05T05:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-05T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/the-rt-rev-kevin-pearson-bishop-of-argyll-the-isles\/"},"modified":"2015-04-05T05:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-04-05T04:00:00","slug":"the-rt-rev-kevin-pearson-bishop-of-argyll-the-isles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/the-rt-rev-kevin-pearson-bishop-of-argyll-the-isles\/","title":{"rendered":"The Rt Rev Kevin Pearson, Bishop of Argyll &#038; The Isles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Resurrection of Jesus \u2013 too difficult an idea or too simple an experience?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In his Easter sermon in Oban today, the Rt Rev Kevin Pearson read of Mary Magdalene at the tomb in John&#8217;s Gospel and said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mary stands weeping, weeping, weeping because all she has left of Him is her pain and her grief and her love.\u00a0 <em>Too difficult an idea or too simple an experience?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She thinks it\u2019s the gardener who speaks but it is Love, Jesus himself calls her by her name \u2013 gently but confidently \u201cMary\u201d.\u00a0 She never moves but \u2018turns\u2019<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He turned her life around, Love called her by her name \u2013 Mary.\u00a0 She heard the call of the Holy Spirit \u2013 <em>too difficult and idea or too simple an experience?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When Mary turned and she saw Him, Love, she saw all the wounds of crucifixion on His body but He, Love, told her &#8211; don\u2019t hold me, don\u2019t hold on to anger, disappointment, loneliness, the wounds of crucifixion \u2013 <em>too difficult and idea or too simple an experience?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And then having turned to recognise Jesus, Love, having heard the call of the Holy Spirit who called her by her name Mary wept but she wept her Passover of God.\u00a0 Tears of joy because tears, the salt water of the Passover, has two elements.\u00a0 The salt of affliction &#8211; \u00a0exile and the water of life &#8211; \u00a0growth, freedom.\u00a0 Love \u2013 resurrection.\u00a0 <em>Too difficult an idea or too simple an experience?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Then\u2026. new light on Mary\u2019s \u00a0experience of this Jesus, Love, new life \u2013 He turned her life around in Love, burst from the tomb of personality, guilt and death.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Too difficult an idea or too simple and experience?\u00a0 Mary said \u201cI have seen the Lord<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Alleluia, Amen&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Resurrection of Jesus \u2013 too difficult an idea or too simple an experience?
