{"id":71219,"date":"2021-04-30T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-30T11:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/joint-call-to-prayer-sunday-2-may-at-7pm\/"},"modified":"2021-04-30T12:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-04-30T11:00:00","slug":"joint-call-to-prayer-sunday-2-may-at-7pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/joint-call-to-prayer-sunday-2-may-at-7pm\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Call to Prayer, Sunday 2 May at 7pm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Scottish Episcopal Church and 13 other denominations join together in prayer on Sunday at 7pm, as they have done throughout the coronavirus pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many of those joining together in prayer, which appears in English and Gaelic below, will also light candles.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint message, church leaders in Scotland said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe live in a world in which questions of identity are much to the fore. The questions range from that of personal identity to those of communal identity. Such questions are important and from our understanding of who we are there will follow, in large measure, the pattern of how we engage with others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn similar fashion, the way in which we understand the nature of God will enable us to better understand the pattern of how God engages with us. Scripture speaks of the identity of God when it affirms: \u2018God is love\u2019. We understand this to be the case because: \u2018God\u2019s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world that we might live through him.\u2019 (1 John 4: 7-21) We see something of the identity of God revealed in the self-giving of God. In the self-giving of God, we see revealed the truth that: \u2018God is love\u2019. In the light of our understanding of this truth, there will follow, in large measure, the pattern of how we engage with others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We pray:<\/p>\n<p><em>God whose name is Love,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We see your love revealed<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In the giving of your Son.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>May we embrace the offer of your love<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And live in response to your generosity.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>God whose name is Love,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We see your love revealed<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In the One who shares in our humanity and who suffers on our behalf.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>May we live as those who share a common humanity<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And in the suffering of the world.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>God whose name is Love,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We see your love revealed<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In the community of your people and in all who are made in your image.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>May we share in the life of your people<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And recognise your image in the life of others.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>God whose name is Love,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We see your love revealed among us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In the places where love is known and fear is cast out.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>May fear be cast out and love be known<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In the community we share and in the spaces we shape.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>God whose name is Love,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We see your love revealed among us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>In the resurrection of your Son and in the promise of your Spirit.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>May we live as those who share in the hope of the resurrection<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And in the life of your Spirit.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Signed by:<\/p>\n<p>Most Rev.
