{"id":71257,"date":"2021-06-04T16:07:00","date_gmt":"2021-06-04T15:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/rev-diana-hall-on-bbcs-thought-for-the-day-2\/"},"modified":"2021-06-04T16:07:00","modified_gmt":"2021-06-04T15:07:00","slug":"rev-diana-hall-on-bbcs-thought-for-the-day-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/rev-diana-hall-on-bbcs-thought-for-the-day-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Rev Diana Hall on BBC&#8217;s &#8216;Thought for the Day&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The emergence of the humble garden shed as a peaceful place for contemplation was the theme of the Rev Diana Hall\u2019s <em>Thought for the Day<\/em> on BBC Radio Scotland this morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Noting the rise in profile of the shed, as demonstrated by this week\u2019s nationwide \u2018Shed of the Year\u2019 competition, the Rector of St Anne\u2019s in Dunbar said: \u201cThe need to get away from it all has long been recognised as important for our emotional and spiritual well-being.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the gospels, Jesus regularly took himself off to be alone, to pray and recharge his batteries, and he taught his disciples to follow his example.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDifferent ways of taking time out, to be quiet and to reflect, will work for different people at different times. For some folk, a shed is perfect. Others just don\u2019t have that resource, or find something else works better for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy time-out space at the moment is just a chair next to a window in my attic, where I can hear the birds and the wind outside.
