{"id":71280,"date":"2021-07-25T12:52:00","date_gmt":"2021-07-25T11:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/joint-call-to-prayer-sunday-25-july-at-7pm\/"},"modified":"2021-07-25T12:52:00","modified_gmt":"2021-07-25T11:52:00","slug":"joint-call-to-prayer-sunday-25-july-at-7pm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/joint-call-to-prayer-sunday-25-july-at-7pm\/","title":{"rendered":"Joint Call to Prayer, Sunday 25 July at 7pm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Scottish Episcopal Church and other denominations join together in prayer on Sunday at 7pm, as they have done throughout the coronavirus pandemic.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many of those joining together in prayer will also light candles.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint message, church leaders in Scotland said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Psalmist says of the Lord: \u2018You open Your hand, satisfying the desire of every living thing.\u2019 The imagery embodied in the words of the Psalmist speaks of a God whose will is to sustain and nurture all creation. The God who so wills is a God whose \u2018kingdom is an everlasting kingdom\u2019 and one that endures throughout all time. (Psalm 145: 10-18)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs our eyes turn to God, we see that intention expressed in the good gifts that we receive in the course of our lives. Equally, we are conscious that the gifts we receive are not thereafter to be kept and retained by our closing our hands and keeping the gifts to ourselves. The goodness of God is a gift to be shared with others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithin the community of which we are a part, we are called to reflect the One in whose image we are made and whose hand is open towards us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We pray:<\/p>\n<p><em>Living God,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You open your hand towards us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And offer to us good gifts.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We accept your gifts with gratitude<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And respond with thanks and praise.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Living God,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You open your hand towards us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And offer to us the gift of life.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We acknowledge that we made in your image<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And recognise your image in the life of each person upon the earth.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Living God,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You open your hand towards us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And offer life to the world.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We receive your offer<\/em><br \/>\n<em>As a sign of your faithfulness towards us.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Living God,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You open your hand towards us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And offer your gifts to all.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We resolve to share the gifts we have received<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And not to close our hand towards others.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Living God,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>You open your hand towards us<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And offer to us signs of your kingdom.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>We pledge to bear witness to your enduring kingdom<\/em><br \/>\n<em>And to your abundant grace.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord, in your mercy,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Signed by:<\/p>\n<p>Most Rev.
