{"id":71752,"date":"2024-06-18T13:25:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T12:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/new-provost-for-st-ninians-perth\/"},"modified":"2024-06-18T13:25:00","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T12:25:00","slug":"new-provost-for-st-ninians-perth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hillside.work\/sec\/staging\/new-provost-for-st-ninians-perth\/","title":{"rendered":"New Provost for St Ninian&#8217;s Cathedral"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong>The Rt Rev Ian Paton, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld &amp; Dunblane yesterday <em>(17 June<\/em>) announced that the Rev Dr Stephen Holmes has been appointed Provost of St Ninian\u2019s Cathedral, Perth, in succession to the Very Revd Hunter Farquharson, who retired in July 2023.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Stephen is currently serving as Rector of Holy Cross, Davidson\u2019s Mains and St Salvador\u2019s, Stenhouse in the Diocese of Edinburgh, having previously served as a parish priest in Cornwall, Associate Rector of St John\u2019s, Princes St, Edinburgh, and Assistant Priest of Old St Paul\u2019s with St Margaret\u2019s, Edinburgh. Stephen\u2019s Institution and Installation as Provost of St Ninian\u2019s Cathedral will take place on Sunday 15th September 2024 at 3 pm. All are welcome.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Sending his greetings to the Cathedral congregation and the Diocese, Stephen writes: \u201cI am delighted to be appointed as Provost of St Ninian\u2019s Cathedral and look forward to moving to Perth with my family and getting to know the congregation, city and diocese. We have received a great welcome at St Ninian\u2019s on past visits to Perthshire and I look forward to working with the Vestry and Bishop Ian to develop the Cathedral\u2019s unique heritage as a centre of Christian mission and culture.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Bishop Ian writes, \u201cStephen\u2019s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for St Ninian\u2019s.
