Applications for membership of the RSE Young Academy of Scotland (YAS) are now open, and application forms may be accessed via the RSE Website here (you will have to register / log in to apply).  A separate form for use only by applicants applying through our refugee professionals / at- risk scholars‘ membership scheme may be found here. This year’s application deadline is 29 April 2016.

Applications are sought from early to mid-career professionals (mid 20s to early 40s) who have demonstrated a high level of excellence in their work, along with a breadth of engagement beyond their workplace to benefit not only their profession but also society in general.  This is the primary criterion for selection.

Applicants are expected to have at least 5 years post-qualification or professional experience and should normally be resident in Scotland. Applications will be reviewed by RSE Fellows and YAS members and the list of new members will be approved by selection committees comprising RSE Fellows and YAS members.

Membership should be considered as an invitation to serve and may be revoked if members are not actively contributing to the work of the Young Academy.  Members contribute by taking part in the outputs of at least one Working Group, though all members are encouraged to suggest new activities and projects. Details of the current Working Groups can be found at the “Our Work” page.

For more information about the application process and membership criteria, please visit the “Applying to Join YAS” page or download the 2016 Recruitment Leaflet.
