Aidan Brown is a biophysicist working at the University of Edinburgh. His major interest is the mathematics and physics of bacterial behaviour, e.g., how bacteria move around, adhere to surfaces and grow into complex colonies. Dr Brown is currently leading a research programme in collaboration with industry to develop novel antimicrobial surfaces based on bacteriophages – viruses that kill bacteria.
