Clare Taylor

Clare is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology in the School of Applied Sciences at Edinburgh Napier University. Her research focusses on understanding and exploiting bacteria, such as Listeria and Salmonella, to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to help reduce antimicrobial resistance. Clare is a trustee of and current General Secretary of the Society for Applied Microbiology, and she chairs the Society’s Policy Sub-Committee.

Within School of Applied Sciences, Clare is Head of Student Experience, Lead for Public Engagement and currently chairs the School’s Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team. Clare works to support colleagues and early career researchers to embed equality and inclusive practice in microbiology, in addition to promoting evidence-based science to the media and policy makers.
