A former Scientist turned Patent Attorney, Dr. Claudia M. Duffy has lived, worked and studied in three European countries. Starting with a BSc in Physics and Chemistry, Claudia went on to pursue graduate research in Physics through MSc and PhD degrees in Munich and Cambridge respectively. Her graduate degrees were based on industrial sponsorships – MSc sponsored by Siemens in Munich, Germany and PhD sponsored by Hitachi in Cambridge, UK – which enabled her to work at the forefront of innovation. She also worked as Research Scientist for Infineon Technologies in Munich.

Claudia is an European Patent Attorney and, since entering the patent profession in 2008, she held both private practice attorney roles (in London, Cambridge and Edinburgh) and also in-house attorney roles (for two Cambridge-university spin-outs). In 2019, Claudia founded Innovare IP, a full-service IP legal practice based in Edinburgh and working with young companies and universities in Scotland and the South-East of England. She also works with angel investor groups conducting IP due diligence on investment deals. Claudia leads CAMentrepreneurs Scotland, a Cambridge University alumni group fostering and enabling entrepreneurship through its global network of CAMentrepreneurs groups
