Dorothy started her company, STEM Scotland Ltd, in 2018, to directly address the need for a greater understanding of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) in our society. An early business venture, “Dr Dot’s Science Club” (Primary after-school science clubs) has been a surprising success. Dorothy discovered she has a real passion and talent for this and running clubs is now a core part of her business.
Dorothy is now developing online clubs and other digital resources to reach as many people as possible. In July 2022, she founded Dr Dot’s Science Community, to share science with people around the globe. She is a scientist by profession, a qualified teacher, and taught high school and university science during her first career in science and education. Starting her company has unleashed a huge amount of creativity and she is excited for a future of growing STEM in Scotland and beyond.
