Kimi Smith

Kimi is a senior policy adviser in the Scottish Government’s Health Inequalities Unit. Her main area of focus is the wider determinants of health and fair health outcomes for all. She is leading work to support community-led activity that keeps people well. Her passions lie in bringing people together with the tools and resources they need to achieve their goals.

She has a background in engagement, network development and project management. Previous roles include progressing student voice opportunities across a university, coordinating national professional networks, and heading up a creative team in a health-focused marketing company.

After studying Linguistics, Kimi has retained an avid interest in language and identity. This has become especially relevant in policy development. Her aim is to show people the impact word choice can have and how it can be used as a tool to reduce health inequalities.
