|

Marta is a RAEng Engineering for Development Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. After completing an undergraduate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, she gained a Master’s degree from the University of Bologna specialising in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. She completed her PhD in Environmental Engineering at Newcastle University within a Marie Curie International Training Network (MERMAID-ITN).

Marta’s research lies at the interface between engineering, fundamental ecology, and environmental microbiology. Specifically, she is interested in understanding the drivers that control the assembly of microbial communities in water filters and how these affect filter performance with the overarching aim of developing more sustainable drinking water treatment technologies.

She enjoys playing the guitar and singing; she likes to explore the wonderful nature of Scotland with her friends.
