|

Matteo Ciantia is a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee, which he joined as a Lecturer in 2017 after a JRF at Imperial College London. He holds a PhD from Politecnico di Milano and was postdoctoral researcher at UPC Barcelona before moving to the UK. His current research is focussed on numerical modelling of soil structure interaction problems which involve complex loading conditions and large displacements/deformation relevant to offshore and onshore geotechnical engineering structures (pipelines, anchors and foundations). His contributions in research to date were internationally recognised in September 2019 when he received the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering Bright Spark award. Father-of-three, he is a proud European citizen, born and raised in Uganda in a family of Italian missionary doctors. Driven by his childhood experience, Matteo is particularly dedicated to promoting engineering in low income countries.
