Mohamed Elsharkasi

Mohamed is a final-year PhD student at Glasgow Caledonian university (GCU). He graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Misurata University, Libya. Subsequently, Mohamed worked at Misrata Medical Center as a pharmacist for a year before deciding to continue his education in the UK. He has an MSc in Pharmacology from GCU and now he is interested in neurodegenerative diseases.

His research investigates the molecular pathology of Alzheimer’s Disease (AD), understanding the connections between AD and the transcription factor Nrf2. His research aims to find new targets for developing new treatments for AD and dementia.

Mohamed is an activist, interested in politics and policymaking. He has experience in running a successful political campaign and was involved in several projects aimed at providing social justice and equality for all people.
