Panna Muqit

Panna is an academic GP and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of St Andrews. She was born and raised in East London and after schooling at a local comprehensive in Newham, obtained her medical degree from The Royal Free and University College London Medical School. She was the first person in her family to go to university. Panna has a specialist interest in medical education and is a Year 1 Generalist Clinical Mentor on the ScotGEM programme, the first Graduate Entry-only medical programme in Scotland. She has a lead assessment role for ScotGEM Years 1 and 2.

As one of the award-winning founding tutors on this innovative programme, Panna has been involved in curriculum development and design from the outset, incorporating novel teaching methods with a focus on regular interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration with allied healthcare professionals and those in the third sector to create unique learning opportunities for her students

Panna also has a mentorship role in widening access to medicine at the University of Dundee, is passionate about public engagement and is a faculty board member at the Royal College of General Practitioners, East Scotland.
