Iain Donald

Dr Iain Donald is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Design & Informatics at Abertay University. Iain gained his PhD in the field of History, followed by an MSc in Information Systems and worked in the Games Industry prior to joining Abertay in 2010. He teaches about production and management within the creative industries and is a member of the Dundee-based Biome Collective who create, collaborate and explore games, digital art and technology. His research interests include Applied Games where he has mentored several award-winning student game projects including many collaborations with industry. His recent work examines the intersection of games, digital media and history with a focus on commemoration and memorialisation. Using game design and technology to explore collective and communal memory in communities impacted by war, the veterans who fought in them, and to considering how we represent conflict in virtual worlds.
