Jack Barrie

In his current role as Circular Economy Research Fellow at Chatham House, Jack leads on research examining the intersections between the circular economy and international trade, geopolitics, finance (including Green Taxonomies) and the Sustainable Development Goals. Jack has a particular interest on how to ensure Scotland achieves a just transition to a circular economy. He works on a range of different global projects including the European Commissions’ flagship circular economy project – SWITCH to Circular Value Chains and the UNCTAD Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution programme. As a result of his research, Jack regularly advises high ranking public sector officials and global institutions such as the WTO, World Bank and UN.

 

Previously, Jack has worked as a Circular Economy Policy Analyst as well as a systems and innovation engineer in the solar and wind energy sectors. In his spare time Jack enjoys swimming anywhere outdoors, building things, and helping convert his family hill farm in Galloway to become nature positive and climate resilient.
