Jonathan Fraser is a Reader in Mathematics at the University of St Andrews. His research interests include Fractal Geometry and related areas such as Ergodic Theory and Geometric Measure Theory. Roughly speaking, a ‘fractal’ is an object which exhibits interesting structural features on a large range of scales and Jonathan’s research concerns the geometrical properties of such objects. For example, he examines how various notions of fractal dimension behave under projection or distortion. Jonathan is also very passionate about outreach and engagement and regularly promotes mathematics to varied audiences through attending residential programmes, visiting schools, and giving public lectures.
