Dr Mirna Šolić is a lecturer in the University of Glasgow’s School of Modern Languages and Cultures, teaching in the field of Comparative Literature. Her main areas of research are migration studies, travel writing, and text/image studies, film studies, and area studies (Central and Southeast Europe).
She is currently co-directing University of Glasgow’s ArtsLab on Migrations in Humanities Research participate in seminars organised by the University of Glasgow’s Migration and Mobility Research Cluster, and contribute to work of Glasgow Refugee, Asylum and Migration Network.
Mirna is also a Principal Investigator of the RSE-funded project “How to Talk About Migrations: Current Academic Research in Migration Studies and its Relevance for School Curriculum in Scotland and Further Afield” (2021).
Mirna’s research interests are inspired by her own personal experiences of the Yugoslav Wars of the 1990s as well as her experience of living, studying, and working in different linguistic and cultural environments (Yugoslavia/Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Canada, the UK).
She is very much interested in knowledge exchange activities, as well as work with different non-academic communities in Scotland and abroad.
