Health & Safety Toolkit

Whether the event is small scale or large scale, indoors or outdoors, the organiser has a duty to plan, manage and monitor the event to make sure that workers and the visiting public are not exposed to health and safety risks.

Usually the health and safety issues around a church event are not complicated and a list of possible hazards can be found below.

The HSE has drawn up a useful document on running an event safely in which it divides the task into 4 steps:

  • getting started,
  • managing an event,
  • after an event,
  • planning for incidents & emergencies
